MDF is a scientifically-devised board and is typically composed of 82% virgin wood fibre (predominantly softwood), 10% synthetic resin binder, 7% water, less than 1% paraffin wax solids, less than 0.05% total extractable formaldehyde, and less than 0.05% silica.
In more that 30 years of usage, there is no evidence that MDF is a heath risk.
MDF is an environmentally friendly product. The softwood thinnings used in its production in the UK and Ireland are derived from forests managed on a sustained yield basis.
The paint is a Pre-Cat made for the furniture industry, it is hardwearing and has good marr resistance and is Child safe.
